I have long believed & experienced that patients who take responsibility for their lives, behaviors , feelings and attitudes most often enjoy positive treatment outcomes.  They live better, sleep better, love better, and hope for their futures in a more realistic fashion.  Telling their stories -the good, bad and ugly- in a non-judgmental atmosphere usually allows people to find their grounding again and enables them to move on more happily and constructively in their lives.  As they become less judgmental about themselves and others, they can begin to re-stabilize, reflect on what they have experienced, forgive themselves for mistakes made, learn how to move on and have more joyful existences.  Sometimes, they simply need to grieve. At other times, they require more careful unfolding & retelling all they did, could have done or should have done.

“It is a privilege and responsibility for me to be a healer/consultant on each person’s, couple’s, or family’s life journey.”

Specific treatment approaches include: prolonged exposure (PE), eye movement, desensitization & reprocessing (EMDR), and body psychotherapy.  Meditation and story telling are also included depending on their needs and readiness.  The impacts of pre-military life habits and conditions are also examined making a psychotherapy experience more holistic and potentially life changing. Positive outcomes of therapy include; reduction/disappearance of symptoms, re-engagement in one’s social milieu, and increased meaning in life.  Sometimes, this includes a vocational or career shift.  A greater integration to a larger world and a sense of finding one’s place again often flows from a positive course of therapy.
